Weekend Hot Spot!
Take a glimpse below at one of my restaurent recommendations for this weekend for inspiration on what to check out next!
A couple weeks ago, my boyfriend and I checked out the new restaurant on the cusp of Bridgeport and Conshy called The Fulton. This was formally the Old Mansion Tavern - a true dive bar most people wouldn’t recommend wandering into lightly. The sign is still outside infact. Let me just say: what a transformation! The inside is small but inviting and they also have multiple TV’s that were streaming the Eagle’s pre-season game (a big win in my book). They haven’t been around long but have already gained regulars who live close by and had a slew of recommedations on the food. The bar staff was also very kind and spent time talking to me about wine: my favorite topic of course. Let’s dive into what we tried and all about the wine!
We started with their Chili which was so good. It was hearty, not crazy spicy, and you cul taste the guiness in it in a subtle way! It was fantastic even in the warm weather but I can’t wait to have this in the fall while watching a football game. I had this with their white blend by R Five Wines on the menu which was perfect. Not too light but also not a very intense wite like cahrdonnay. It was able to stand up to the chili nicely!
Our main consisted of a classic Fish and Chips and we got a side of their Potato Gratin. Both: FANTASTIC. The fish was so flavorful and flaky, the fries perfectly crisp, and the potatoes Gratin were so creamy and crispy which was a nice touch! They also serve the fish was tartar sauce and it was perfetly creamy to compliment the fish well! We were recommended many other dishes so we will definitely be back to try more!
Another wine I tried (which I blind tasted to see if I could guess what it was: surprise! I was way off) was this Chardonnay also by R Five Wines. This was a lovely California Chard that was not overly Oaky and was easy to sip on. I highly recommend grabbing aglass of this when you visit and this is coming from someone who will ony drink the Chablis expression of the Chard grape! All in all, this was a great spot and we can‘t wait to go back to try more of their wines and more fo their food!
That’s all for now so…
Until next time wine lovers, Cheers!
