Weekly Wine(d) Up!
Take a glimpse below at one of my wine and food pairings from this weekend for inspiration with your next meal!
Not too often as an adult do you feel like you have nothing to do on any given weekend besides your normal adulting things and just relaxing. This was one of those rare weekends where we didn’t have much going on and have free will to pick and choose what we wanted to do! I feel like these types of weekends are so important to recharge especially when you are on the move most of the time or have to have your social battery charged up and ready to go. This does not mean we slacked in the food and wine department though and this weekly wine(d) up takes a hint of inspiration from last weekend. Let’s dive in!
First, the food…
After last weekend’s seafood filled menu, I was really craving something healthy but also similar to the food we had the weekend before, so, we ended up making shrimp taco’s this weekend! I wanted to do something a little healthier though so we ended up going with a cabbage slaw lettuce mixture, low-card wheat tortilla’s, low-fat shredded Mexican cheese, an adobo chili creamy sauce, pineapple mango salsa, and a little slice of avocado because what is a taco without avocado?! These tacos really hit the spot though. We also topped them with some of Trader Joe’s hot and sweet jalapeños and it gave the perfect mix of sweet and heat to these tacos! We did have plenty left over for Sunday and we got a little creative by making a crispy cheese outer shell of the tortilla and I think this is going to be a trend that we keep the next time we make tacos or burritos!
Now, onto the more important topic…
While I do love a good marg, I just wasn’t really feeling it so I would like to thank the internet for this idea that we went with: Spicy Sauvy B! One thing about me is that I will drink up a spicy marg anytime I get the opportunity to have one and for there now to be a trend for a spicy wine (this has also been done with rosé which I need to try next), I am on board with this! You need to be particular about the Sauvy B you get. This would be best with a New Zealand or a California Sauvy B but I have to say even this Argentina Sauvy B was a fantastic pairing with the jalapeños. Pro tip: I saw someone else do this online and I forget who it was (if I remember I will give her a shoutout) but adding frozen jalapeños to your wine is a great way to keep your wine cool and also get the essence of the spice in your Sauvy b you are looking for! Start out light with your jalapeños so you don’t over do it especially since you can always add more later once it has been a little bit and you can gauge how spicy your jalapeños made your wine!
Overall, I feel really recharged from this weekend. I was able to get everything done this weekend that was needed to start this week off right as well as spend time getting rest and relaxation when I definitely needed it. Let this be a reminder that sometimes being bored or not having much to do is the universe’s way of forcing you to slow down when you may need it most!
That’s all for now, so…
Until next time wine lovers, cheers!
