Weekly Wine(d) Up!
Take a glimpse below at one of my wine and food pairings from this weekend for inspiration with your next meal!
We had a lot of fun eats this weekend and ended up with some nice weather even when we thought it would be all rain! The stand out for me though was the new cocktail bar we got to go to that just opened in Conshy called The Rabbit Hole! This is an Alice in Wonderland themed bar with the best upscale ambiance while being outside a city. Fun fact: this spot used to be a total dive bar but the incredible way they have transformed this spot you would never know. I’m going to be so for real right now that one of my favorite rooms in the bar was the bathroom. Call me crazy but it was pink, had a picture of Audrey Hepburn, and also had any little thing a girl could need in the bathroom including red wine stain remover. That completely leveled up this place for me and I cannot wait to go back and try some more of their food and drinks! I stuck to wine this time so next time I plan to try one of their cocktails! Let’s get into the nitty gritty now…
First, the food…
We went during happy hour and we knew that we were planing to pick up dinner after so we decided to just grab two of the apps on their happy hour menu and just see what it was all about. Full disclosure: their menu is light bites it seems to me and I can’t wait to try more because they have a lot of fun options including some things with caviar. We opted for their Buffalo Chicken Dip and their “Our Daily Bagel” Pizza Bagel! The Buffalo Chicken Dip was perfection. First of all, it comes in a cute presentation and second of all, there was ENOUGH DIP for the CHIPS AND VEGGIES ON THE SIDE. Sorry for yelling at you but nothing makes me more. Irritated than giving too much dip and not enough things to dip or too little dip with too many chips on the side. They hit the nail on the head with the ratio! This dip also was different to me than your regular Buff Chicken Dip. It was also the consistency of queso with chunks of chicken and I was a huge fan because of how creamy and flavorful it was! The Pizza Bagel was not my favorite. Not bad but I think there are some other things I would have liked better. All of the flavors were great it was more of a consistency thing for me. I will always recommend someone still tries it though because everyone’s taste buds and what they like can be different from mine. To be honest, I may even try it again myself!
Now, onto the more important part…
Let me just say this: they take a lot of pride in the wine they are curating here. They actively seek out wines you will not find at a lot of places and they are picking some damn good wines. They even have a Pinot Noir with their label on it which is a super fun story. I started out with their Sauvy B on the happy hour menu (which, by the way, is buy one get one free glasses of wine for $12 or you can order a glass for $6 which in this economy? Are you kidding? What a steal!). This was the perfect expression of a New Zealand Sauvy B and it was ice cold on such a humid day. I was a huge fan! I also tried their Rosé and it was phenomenal. I have never tasted a rosé like that before. It was light bodies, dry, but very fruit forward that made it also candied but very dry. It may have had some floral notes to it but all in all, it was a delicious rosé and I need to find it for myself somewhere.
The rest of this weekend was pretty busy as well! We attended the Veg Fest in Lancaster at Franklin & Marshall College with one of my goof friends and her fam and there were soooooooo many food options! Do not knock vegan food until you try it. I have some people in my life who eat vegetarian and vegan and I try to eat that type of diet when I’m with them which has given me the opportunity to try some incredible food. There are some great options out there especially from the start of veganism and I think it’s so fun to try a new cuisine and see what people do to make food taste delicious. Okay enough of my foodie “you won’t know if don’t like it unless you try it” rant. We also did our little breakfast tradition at our local diner and got some tasty food. I hope you all had a great weekend and you’re leaning into the start of summer with some great food, fun activities, and of course, some amazing wines!
That’s all for now so…
Until next time wine lovers, Cheers!
